  1. BITS & LOOT

These are the things that I got/collected on my trip. Not a whole lot, but enough. (I lost my metrocard, pretty sure that I brought it home with me though :C ) Here’s a summary image, and if you want more pictures and text, it’s under the cut!

    MoMA ticket! The 0s!! :D

We had Donato as a speaker on the first day of class! A really super awesome nice funny person, super-detailed work, and really fancy leave behinds! I enjoyed his talk/presentation a lot.

Picked this up at the Society of Illustrators (left), a flyer for the 55 annual! Illustration by Marcos chin. (Found that out a couple days after I took the flyer, didn’t really read the small print on the side haha.)

Passes for the Empire State Building! We met with the speakers there. In a fancy conference room, complete with the rotating chairs.

Name tag we’re supposed to wear. I ended up forgetting to put it on sometimes though.

    Gallery pin/tag and brochure!

Booklet of a show about lunch/food at the New York Public Library! Thought the place actually served food when I entered. They didn’t, but the show/set up is actually really cool and informative.

Postcard we got when we went and saw the murals by Dean Cornwell!

Marcos Chin’s leave behinds that he let us have! He also offered lighters with his illustration on it but I forgot to take one. Also, not quite sure if it’s allowed in checked baggage.

We also met with Zelda and Kurt from Teetering Bulb on the first day as well! They are awesome and they gave us a bunch of postcards!

BOOKS! I only picked up a small batch when I was in New York, not quite as much as my friends; I wish I bought a few more. On the left is the Student Competition annual I picked up while I was at the Society of Illustrators, the middle is the Children’s illustration issue of 3x3 Magazine, and lastly, Nuts and Bolts by Charles Hively.

These two were put together cause I got them for free! Given to us by the publishers the we met that week. Everyone had to scramble to get a book cause there weren’t enough for all of us. On the left, a friend of mine actually got to it first, but she was super nice to give it to me afterwards. The right was something I managed to grab some other day, and it is frustrating! It’s one of those books that they have a list of the same things they include in every image and you have to look for them. I can only find 2 on the list for every image; and they’re the same things every time!

A small peek into the Billy Fog book! LOVE the line work!

These two children’s book I bought cause it is illustrated by one of my favourite illustrators, Jon Klassen! I was going to get I want my Hat Back as well, (cause it was the last one in the store apparently) but I decided not to. (For some insane reason.)

And the last book in my really small haul, SOI Annual 53! On the right is the bag that it came in, but it ripped when I got back to the hotel, so I tore it up and kept it instead.
